It was a good weekend for the Harrisburg Shooting Teams. Out of 60 teams across the state, the Harriburg Hornets Junior Shooting Team "Triple A: took First Place and the Junior Team "Clay Busters" took third place in the Arkanas Youth Shooting Sports Program State Shoot sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.


The even took pace at the Remington Gun Club in Lonoke.

 

Members of the 1st place "Triple A" squad include Jordan Harper, Calen Wallace, Lyle London, Brett Long and Garrett Grubbs.

 

Members of the "Clay Busters" squad include Holland Gandy, Cary Traynom, Cale Reddmann, Hunter Traynom and Devon Brown.

 

The "Triple A" squad broke 122 targets out of 125 to earn their first place. "This is a record that will stand for some time," said Bronson Castleberry, manager of the Remington Gun club. "Our teams showed a lot of class in representing Harrisburg," said Hornet shooting coach Pat Turnage.

 

Even though they have only been compenting since April 7, 2007. these kids are ready to compete a the national level said coach Turnage.

 

Jordan Harper won the Preliminary Singles Event with a score of 96 out of 100, in the Amateur Trapshooting Association State Shoot in Lonoke on June 13. Team member Calen Wallace came in second in that event with a score of 95 out of 100.

 

Jordan also won the Remington Sub Jr Handicap event with a score of 92 out of 100 on June 15.

Hunter Traynom won the Arkansas Sub Jr Handicap Championship in the ATA State Shoot with a score of 94 out of 100. Another team member, Garrett Grubbs, Came in second with a score of 93 out of 100.
