THE HORNETS HIT THE SOUTHWEST ZONE

Twelve members of the Harrisburg Hornets Shooting Teams competed in the Southwest Zone at the Remington Gun Club in Lonoke, AR over a 3 day weekend. Friday was the Preliminary event, Saturday was singles and Sunday was Doubles and Handicap.

The Southwest Zone is a competition between 8 states which include Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Louisiana and Missouri. This competition is not a team event, the scores were on an individual basis. Each state holds a shoot and the scores are transmitted via computer to find the winners in each discipline: singles, doubles and handicap.

Winners from the Harrisburg Hornets Shooting Teams include Brett Long, Haden Zirbel, and Jordan Harper.

In the singles event in state Brett Long won "D" Class with a score of 97 out of the first 100 and a score of 95 out of the second 100.
In the Handicap event in state Haden Zirbel won Sub Jr with a score of 95 out of 100.
Jordan Harper won in state Sub Jr and won the Southwest Zone in "D" Class with a score of 100 out of the first 100 and a score of 96 out of the second 100. This score of 100 straight is an accomplishment that few shooters achieve.

Coach Pat Turnage said "Cary Traynom shot his best Handicap score of 91 out of 100 and I was very proud of him for his concentration in the Handicap event".

All of our shooters are improving and doing very well.
